I am starting this blog to share my adventures in Faith Art Journaling. I will be sharing inspiration pages from my bible along with tips and techniques, with a few videos thrown in. If you are new to Faith Art Journaling here is a bit about what this great adventure is doing and where it may be going.
There is a movement spreading across the world in our
bibles. It’s called Bible Art Journaling
and it has reached the hearts of Christians world wide. I believe it has reached so many of us
because we were made by our Creator to be like him, creators. We have a passion for art and expressing
ourselves and because we have a passion for God and his word. When you put two passions like this together
there will be an explosion of deeper relationships with God and our fellow
Christians and a new heart for the lost as we share our passions.
I remember when I first became a Christian 24 years ago, I
was on fire and could not get enough of God’s word. I would read and study as much as I
could. Then I slowly got comfortable and
quiet times and prayer some how got pushed to the side. I still knew the word and prayed when I could,
but my walk with Jesus had grown idle more than I would have liked. I tried to get that fire back with different
studies and such, but it was never the same as it was in the beginning. Then I saw bible journaling and was excited
to get back into my bible. I found the
freedom and permission “per se” to do my art in my Bible, two of my favorite things (paper
crafting art with God’s word) collided and it is a beautiful thing! I have grown and gone deeper in my
relationship with God, my Father, Jesus my Savior and the Holy Spirit my
guide.
I have been able to share Jesus to way more people than I
ever did before, just because I carry it around with me at church, I do my
journaling it in public places and I post pictures on FB. I have had people approach me about God more
than ever before. And isn’t that what we
are commanded to do….go into all the world and share the good news.
So if what you see here inspires you and you would like to
get started, know that there is no right or wrong way. This is a time shared between you and God and
where he leads you. There are many
different ways of doing Faith Art from writing the scriptures and adding color,
to drawing illustrations of what you envision, using stickers and stamps.
On my first page that I did in my dedicated "Faith Art Bible" I was inspired by an image on Pinterest and penciled it in my bible in Matthew 7:7 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. I colored the image then with Prismacolor Pencils and used Gamsol and a blending stump to blend the colors.
If you have questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Blessings,
Jill

Jill I have a question. I have looked at lots of pages and since I am new at art journaling, I am very interested I the best way to prep bible pages. One thing I have not seen on any post is what the back side of the page look like after the page has been painted or other wet medium. Can you please enlighten me? Is the back page still readable? Thank you. LaFon
