Bold & Confident Faith

Hi Faithers!
This is a bold page and pray for bold & confident faith!  To go out into my world and share my story of Christ and what he has done for me!  The images are mostly stamps.  The letters bold & confident is a Hero Arts stamp set....the faith and love come from my Faith Art Stamps, lady and the heart flowers across the bottom are from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  I drew the heart in the background.  For the background color I used acrylic paint and a makeup sponge and added black splatters.  A Signo White Gel Pen was used for shadowing and a blue gel pen for the lettering color.

I pray that we would all have the boldness to proclaim our faith in Jesus and share his love and what he has done for us!

Artfully,
Jill

Sweet Name of Jesus

I've been thinking about this page for a while, but wasn't sure of where I wanted to put it.  I was originally thinking of the New Testament, maybe one of the Gospels.  But then it hit me that it needs to be in Isaiah 9:6...and He shall be called...... I prepped or painted my page with gold acrylic paint and a makeup sponge.  Then I used my Pazzles machine and cut out the letters and traced them on the page and colored with colored pencils.  The swirls were added to write all the different names on.  I now I don't have them all, but a lot of them!
Now I want to start working on the names of Jehovah!

Happy Faithing!

Presence

 Hi Faithers,
I have been trying to rest in the "Presence" of God this week.  Sunday's sermon was in Exodus and Moses would go into the Tent of Meeting and God would be with him and talk to him as a friend does.  God then told Moses the His Presence would go with him as they went to the Promised Land.  We sang the song "Holy Spirit" from Francesca Batastelli and I have been so wrapped up in his presence.  Even though this week has had its challenges, the Holy Spirit is ever present through it all and is giving me amazing peace!
I wanted to represent the close presence of the Holy Spirit and God in my life and was on Pinterest when I came across this image by Valerie Sjodin, she actually painted this in front of her church during worship!  I was so awed by the work and it just spoke to me of such tranquil peace of God holding me and talking with me. You can see more of her beautiful work on her blog.
I used acrylic paints on my opposite page because I wanted to highlight the scriptures.  I also watered down the paints a bit so they would be a bit more transparent.  For the lettering I used stamps with acrylic paint also.
Thank you Valerie for the inspiration you gave me through your painting, God has truly blessed you!

Thanks for looking,
Jill

Kiss Of God

Hi Faithers,
Today's entry is from my study on the book of John.  I was reading about Nicodemus and Jesus telling him that you must be "born from above", born of water and Spirit.  And how he related the wind blowing to the Spirit.  The Spirit works in a mysterious way, but he is very real and I can feel him in me guiding me and my thoughts and actions.  Thank you Jesus for sending the Spirit.

This is a Phyllis Harris stamp from Unity Stamps and I gessoed the page first, then stamped with Black Archival Ink and watercolored.  Love the image and the verse with it!

Next time you feel a breeze on your face, thank God for the gentle kiss he just gave you!

Hugs & Blessings,
Jill

Be Bold as a Lion

 Hi Faithers,
This is one of the pages I did at my scrapbook weekend.   I want to speak boldly for Christ in all I do.

I digitized a photo and made a colorbook page, then printed it on tracing paper, colored with pencils and used matte gel medium to put it down.  The lettering was done with a stencil.
Be bold in your faith today!
Hugs,
Jill

Philippians - the Letter of Joy

Hi Faithers!  I had such a great relaxing weekend at a crop this past weekend....then came home and had a wonderful sermon Sunday evening.  Dave Mullins taught on the book of Philippians and living a joy filled life.  That's what I want!!  Lord, help me to be joyful in all circumstances just like Paul was when he wrote this letter from prison.
This was a pretty straight forward entry....Micron Pen for the words and lines, then watercolor pencils and very little water to blend....no prepping the page if you use very little water!
Be joy to someone today!
Tomorrow I will share what I did over the weekend!
Hugs,
Jill

Water to Wine

Hi Faithers......I am studying through the book of John and Jesus first miracle really stood out.  It has so much spiritual meaning. The fact that it happened at a wedding symbolized that Jesus is the bridegroom and we the church are his bride.  Also, the fact of the ritual washing of water that will change to a spiritual washing of his blood.  If you are looking for a deep way of studying check out the Journibles at Christian Book.  I'm not using their journals, but my own and copying scripture.  I pray before I study for an open heart and insight into what God wants to reveal to me through the words I'm writing.  By taking the time and writing every word of scripture down really gives you time to let it sink and and time to meditate on the words.  The Spirit has really lead me deep in this kind of study and then it takes me deeper into illustrating it in my bible.
I found the image on Google and drew it staight in my Bible with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol.  A little washi tape to jazz it up some.
Blessing to you today!

Catch God's Vision

Hi Faithers....this weeks sermon was a summary of all the great volunteers that helped out at VBS this year.  He started with the lady in charge and her vision and how everyone jumped on board and made the vision come to life.  I like the way he referenced it to the story of David and the armies coming to share in God's vision of making David king.  Then they had 3 days of celebration.
The other part that stood out to me was the list of all the armies that came from all around.....very large groups of hundreds of thousands....and then in the middle you see a group of 200....but God still used them even if they were small in number.  Never thing you are to insignificant for God to use.  He can use anything we have to offer, big or small.

The stamp of the girl is from Unity and is a Phyllis Harris image.  I stamped on deli paper and colored with colored pencils then glued her on the page.  The words where done with Distress Ink and a stencil.  I did prime the page because of the inked letters.

Thanks for looking!

Apostle of Love

Hi Faithers!  Sorry I've been MIA....I've been busy with classes.  I've been reading the book 12 Ordinary Men and I am also writing the book of John.  So when I started writing John, I was reading about the apostle John and thought I would combine both efforts on this page.  So the top notes are from the book reading.  Then I was using my Faith Art stamps just in what was speaking to me.  I used the Mermaid Lagoon Paint dauber, and didn't have to prep my page.  The heart background is a Tim Holtz stencil with Pan Pastels.

I met with our small group today and we did a cute page with a Phyllis Harris Unity stamp....I'll share that tomorrow.

Thanks for looking.  What are you working on or reading lately??

Trust the Lord

Hi Faithers,  This is my favorite verse...Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all you ways acknowledge him and He will make your path straight.

I did an acrylic paint background and used the Faith Art stamps for the flowers and Pitt pens for the lettering.
Here is a quick video I did on this technique....and absolutely no bleed through.

Insignificant Gifts

Hi Faithers,   Reading this book, Twelve Ordinary Men" by John MacArthur and really enjoying getting to know the 12 apostles better. He has good insight into the kind of personality each had from reading the scriptures. Like Andrew never preached to the crowds but that he brought people to Christ personally one by one. And he saw the insignificant meal that the boy had to offer, but he brought him to Jesus anyway, believing Jesus would use it somehow.  I was inspired by someones post of this verse, but can't seem to find it now....but thanks for the inspiration of the 5 loaves and 2 fish!
It doesn't matter what we have....it matters if we have it in the right hands.....the hands of Jesus.  He can make everything matter and count not matter the size!

Let's give it all to God!
Blessings,
Jill

Hope Unshakeable

 Hi Faithers!
Today I wanted to share how to add another entry if the page you want is already done.  Above is the page I had done and I wanted to add the song Anchor from Hillsong to it.  So I picked colors that coordinated with the anchor and used the margin of the page.  I love this song and it just goes so well with the rest of this page.
I used the Faith Art stamps and Sunset Adirondack paint dauber.  Then I colored with Prismacolor pencils.
Enjoy and be blessed!

Give Until You Laugh

Hi Faithers,
We had such a great time this morning at our Bible Journaling small group, that I lead from my church!! We take the Sunday sermon and illustrate it.  The scripture was 2 Corinthians 10:13 and 9:10.  We will shine our light bright for all our sphere of influence...and give until we laugh!... Because we cannot out give God and when we freely give of ourselves and resources he will always amaze us at his abundant blessing he will rain down on us!!! To God be the Glory!!!

I prepped my page with clear gesso, then I started with the Faith Art stamp of the candle in the middle,  using a template for the circle and drew stick people standing "in my sphere of influence" and wrote my notes in the circle.  I used Micron Pens for the drawing and lettering and my Prismacolor Watercolor pencils for the color.

Happy Day!

Love Came Down

Hi Faithers,
Love came down from heaven and showers us!  What a gift of grace and mercy!  I used the Faith Art stamps to illustrate the words.  I prepped the page with pink acrylic paint, then stamped with acrylic paint and colored in with colored pencils.  The small hearts are from Unity.  The washi tape on the sides really finishes it off and frames the page.
I am using the Journal Bible from Local Bibles for this one.  It has larger margins and makes it easier to do art on the pages.

What is your favorite products to use on a page??

Blessings to you all,
Jill

Prepping Your Bible Page With Acrylic Paint

 Hi Faithers!
I love color!  Lots of color!  Bright colors!  So I like to put color all over my pages when I journal....it just makes me happy!  Yesterday I shared that gesso is an acrylic base product, so I discovered that if you put acrylic paint down on your page there is no bleed through with stamps and pens...just like gesso.  So I did another verse for my page. I did another quick video you can watch below.   As I was studying Colossians, this first really hit me.....Christ is my hope of Glory!  I used my Faith Art stamps for the dragonfly, a Fude Ball pen for the lettering this time (it works great on acrylics).  I used the back of the paint brush dipped in purple paint for the dots.
Here is a look at the back of the page....a little shadow, but no bleed through.
I used my Prismacolor pencils to color the dragonflies and the flourish.

Enjoy the video.
I have made a list of the products that I frequently use in my journaling.  It is an affiliate link, so if you make a purchase I will get a very small kickback.

If  you have any questions feel free to ask:)

Have a blessed weekend!

Faith Art Rubber Stamps

Hi Faithers!  Today I want to share a quick page I did with my Faith Art stamps.  Stamps make it so easy to decorate a page and if you feel you are not an artist rubber stamps are a wonderful way to add to your pages.  I have been studying the book of Colossians and on the first page there were several different things that jumped out to me.  Using the stamps I was able to illustrate each one with the stamps and bring a lot of color to the page without a lot of work.  The stamps are available in my Etsy store and you can get to it by clicking on the picture below.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/240387466/faith-art-inspiration-red-rubber-stamps

And I also had an ah ha moment yesterday when I was doing this page.  Gesso is an acrylic base and coats the page so you don't get any bleed through.  Well, paint daubers are acrylic paint....sooooo......I used the paint daubers on the stamps and stamped with the acrylic paint and then colored with colored pencils!!  There was no prepping the page and no bleed through!
I put the hearts around the word love in the first section.  In the second section it was talking about the light of the kingdom so I used the sun above that and the dove represents the hope.

I pray that you will find time to feel the peace God shares when you are in his word.  If there is a technique or product you would like to see me use please leave me a message and I will do my best to do it.

Blessings & Prayers to you!
Jill

Oceans by Hillsong

Hi Faithers!  I love this song and have been wanting to journal it in my bible.  I did this page in Matthew, but think that I will have to do add to it to do more words....because there is so much more to the song than that one line.  Imagine a trust without borders!  That's deep......Spirit lead me!
I was inspired by this print on Pinterest here.

I did the background with acrylic paint and a makeup sponge.  I put some paint on the sponge and worked it into the sponge on my craft mat til it was well worked in and not wet, then almost burnished into the page.  I was surprised at how transparent it was this way.  And it preps the page then since it is acrylic and the pen work did not bleed through.  I used my Pitt pen for the lettering.

Happy Day!

Alive in Christ

This was a late entry into my bible last night.  I have been reading Colossians and copying the book in my journal.  I have seen this image as a tattoo before and was reminded of it last night and it fit perfect on the page.  I did prep the page with gesso first and used a Pitt pen.  Red acrylic paint was splattered to finish it off.

Have a blessed week!

Bible Journaling Bleed Through

Hello Faithers, I have been asked to show some of the backs of pages that I've done to show what the other side looks like....so I have taken a few of my pages to share with you.  The page that I posted yesterday was prepped with gesso...here is the front
Here is the back of the girl page.  When you prep a page, you can stamp with any ink and write with any pen and get no bleed through....you are able to completely read the page and can even do some art journaling on the back page.  As you see the gesso does crinkle the page a bit, but its not bad and will lay flatter as it sits in a closed book.
This next page was done on an untreated page....I stamped and colored with colored pencils and used Pitt Pens for the writing.  The page is flat and smooth, but.....
You flip over to the back of the page and it doesn't really have bleed through, but ghosting.  The ink doesn't soak through, but you can see the image quite well.

Another way to prep your page with out gesso is to use acrylic paints.  Here I used Dina Wakely paints and a credit card to scrape some paint on the page.  You can still read the scripture because the paint is put on so thin.  I stamped on the painted sections and did color a bit with colored pencils.
On the back side you see a very small amount of ghosting, but not much, you could still do some art on the back side easily.

Here is a picture of the tag that I added as a tip in.....it is just taped on the left side with washi tape and can be lifted up to read the page.
I hope this has been helpful to those starting out.  If you have any question please feel free to contact me.

Blessings,
Jill
